Brief Summary
- Developed by the Viet-Std
Group (Vietnamese Standardization Working Group) in 1992,
VISCII (pronounced as viskey) stands for Vietnamese Standard Code
for Information Interchange. TriChlor
organization is one of many non-profit organizations provides
VISCII fonts for free.
- This 8-bit code standard is promised
to standardize the way Vietnamese characters are being
interchanged across the Internet, including documents and email
messages. However, its standard status is still under reviewed by
the W3C, an International organization for the Internet standards.
- It has been implemented on many
computing platforms, including Windows, DOS, Unix, X-Windows, Mac.
In addition, many Vietnamese Web sites support it as their
Vietnamese coding standards.
